Medical tests allow the surgeon to identify and analyze the condition of the potential kidney patient and the donor, based on which a schedule for the surgery is created. This plan is created after consulting multiple specialists, consultants and surgical teams, to ensure that the best approach is used for the operation. 

This whole process can take a couple of days, during which the patient's reports are analyzed by different medical geniuses. We have created a rough guide with the sequence of tests and steps that are followed before kidney transplantation. 

مرحله 1: The reports and case analysis of the patient will be reviewed and evaluated by the transplant team. The patient should be ready with all the documents beforehand. This may take 1 to 2 days.

مرحله 2: The patient along with the donor need to undergo pre-transplant work-up which may take from 4 to 5 days. (Refer to ANNEXURE 1 for Pre-transplant work-up for the donor and ANNEXURE 2 for the recipient for details)

مرحله 3: Once the investigations are done, the transplant team will assess the donor's compatibility by going through the records, whether the kidney obtained from the donor has matched the recipient's or not.

مرحله 4: The patient needs to submit the entire set of mandatory documents before the transplant committee to gain approval.

مرحله 5: Then, the case of the patient is forwarded to the transplant committee to seek approval.

مرحله 6: Once the patient has submitted all the necessary documents, the transplant committee may take a few days (7 to 10 days) to complete the approval process.

مرحله 7: Finally, the transplant is carried out on the patient. The patient can expect a stay of 24 to 30 days in the hospital, and the donor can expect a stay of 5 to 7 days.

مرحله 8: بعد از پیوند کلیه, the patient's stay ranges between 1 month to 1 month and a half for regular follow-ups. During this period, the patient is kept under close observation to detect the risks of complications if any.

توجه داشته باشید: Neither Indian hospitals or Medmonks, are responsible for arranging a donor for the patients. International patients have to bring a matching donor with them, who should be a blood-relative with proper legal documentation if they are undergoing an organ transplant surgery in India.
