Momina, a 4-year-old Pakistani girl had been suffering from a liver problem, whose parents brought her to India, in search of proper medical care.

Momina and her family were skeptic about the kind of welcome they were going to receive in India, as they from Pakistan. However, as soon as they entered the بیمارستان جهانی گلنیگلز، چنای, they were overwhelmed by the care delivered to them and their daughter.

The suitable treatment discussed for Momina’s condition was to undergo a liver transplantation on her which was carried forward by Dr Naresh P Shanmugam and Dr Mohamed Rela who are consultants at the Institute of Liver Disease at Global Health City in Chennai, India.

“Momina is a 4-year-old girl from Pakistan who has a disease called PFIC (progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis) which is associated with severe conditions like liver failure and sometime death. Momina was afflicted by the former. There was also a history of previous sibling death as well. So she underwent a living liver transplant. The surgery was uncomplicated, and she was discharged after 3 weeks and received outpatient care for a few weeks after that.” as shared by the doctors who handled her case.
