Mr Onome Asagbra, a Nigerian patient was suffering from a spinal disorder which caused him severe pain while sitting, he was unable to drive or go to work. One day while talking to his boss about his condition, his boss recommended him to go to Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai, India.

When the patient was admitted at the Wockhardt Hospital, he was on bedrest and was barely able to walk because of the severe pain.

Dr Mazda K Turel, Neuro & Spine Surgeon at the Hospital talked about Mr Onome’s condition, “His MRI did show a large relapse at the lumbosacral junction and that distractions the inferiorly migrated, and was pinching the nerve very badly.”

“We do these procedures with a minimally invasive fashion, making incisions small than an inch and skin is the only thing we cut, with a series of tubular dilators we retract the muscle and we go exactly to the point of the target.”

Dr Mazda Turel, operated Mr Onome with a minimally invasive spine procedure, that not only was completed in a shorter duration but also caused limited blood loss and required small incisions.

The patient was walking in the hospital within one week after the surgery and already feels that his quality of life has been increased.
